Sophie’s Cleaning Tips
Spring clean: 4 tips to protect your home.
The change of season is a good time to do a thorough cleaning at home. We help you get organized with 4 ideas to start spring off right.
1 Ventilate and get organized
Spring is a good time to do general cleaning deeply. Start by opening all windows for ventilation. Air in all rooms is well renewed. If possible, create a cross ventilation (opening windows on the ends of the house, so that the air flow unobstructed and clean the atmosphere). Then, prepare the tools you’ll need (brushes, mops, rags, sponges, gloves, bags for vacuum cleaner …), and plan the cleaning areas, starting with those that are not cleaned daily. When starting to clean, do it for the highest areas. The dust will fall down and you will be able to clean it up easier.
2 Follow the Feng Shui: tidy and remove what you do not use
Feng Shui seeks harmony and balance of energy flowing around us to create wellness in our lives. And the disorder disrupts the proper flow of energy. To clean the house according to Feng Shui, you must eliminate anything you no longer use. Do not throw it away, gift what you do not want to someone, because surely somebody can take advantage of it.
3 Clean curtains, sofas and lamps
Pass the vacuum thoroughly by the sofas using the special attachment for upholstery and insisting on the armrests and back. If you find a dry spot, try to eliminate it with ammonia or with a dry foam. If some fat drops, put talcum, let it act for a few hours and brush.
Wash your curtains with an anti-wrinkle program and hang them, after dusting the bar, when they are still wet: you will prevent the ironing.
Clean dust from bulbs with a feather duster. If you have lamps with hanging crystals, put on some cotton gloves, wet your fingers in a little glass cleaner or ammonia diluted in water and pass them all around the lamp, so you will avoid drips.
4 Go for natural products
Vinegar, baking soda, salt and lemon are essential to a green cleaning with natural products. They have the advantage that they are environmentally friendly and do not pollute. If you decide to use stronger products with chemicals for difficult cases, use them as directed and do not mix them.
