How to Spot Bed Bugs in Your Home
Bed bugs are a major concern for a lot of people, but there are also a lot of myths about their lives and their general existence in houses. Many people get bed bugs confused with dust mites, and think that they are invisible to the naked eye. In actual fact, this is not the case. While dust mites are very hard to spot, bed bugs are actually pretty easy to see because they are fairly large compared with microscopic mites. Bed bugs looks like small, black bugs that are not that hard to spot, and they tend to make their homes in warm, fabric areas like the corners of your duvet.
If you are concerned that you may have bed bugs, the first warning signs are usually bites. Bites from bed bugs don’t generally hurt when they happen, but they will leave marks on your body, or your kids’ bodies, that will suggest that they are present. If you or anyone in your family starts to find red, itchy marks on their torso, arms or legs, then that is a big indicator that there are bed bugs in your home. If you notice this sign, then you should start looking for the bugs themselves. Bed bugs are nocturnal, and you are most likely to find them moving around late at night, between the hours of midnight and 4am.
If you do find bed bugs in your house, then the first thing to do is kill them off. Usually it is best to use a professional company to get rid of the bugs, but if you are unable to, a normal pesticide that you can use in a room can help, and it can also be good to seal pillows or toys in a plastic bag to suffocate any bugs living in there.
Generally, a bed bug infestation can be dealt with quite easily, but it is always best to get help from a company who are experts in dealing with this kind of problem.
