Sophie’s Cleaning Tips
Now the clocks have gone forward its officially the start of spring and for many of us that means a whole load of cleaning is higher up on our agenda.
But why is that?
The notion of spring cleaning comes from what could be described as an inherent need of disposing on the old to make way for the new. As the days become longer (and hopefully warmer), flowers begin to blossom and our need to vegetate on the sofa in front of the fire dwindles in favour of a get up and go attitude.
As nature goes through its new life cycle so do we. And for us mere mortals that equals a good spring clean.
Getting rid of the dirt and dust that has accumulated over the long dark days and cold winter nights is a therapeutic tool we can all tap into.
Here are a few ideas to kick-start your spring cleaning ritual of 2014
Move the furniture
Instead of cleaning around actually move your sofas, tables and chairs to get into the nooks and crannies that have amassed a mountain of dust and grime. Sweep, vacuum and mop these areas. Delve under your bed as well to find what has been lurking.
Wipe down
Clean walls, kitchen tiles, bathrooms thoroughly. Instead of giving surfaces a quick once over take the time to wipe down from top to bottom. Bathrooms and kitchen in particular.
Do the jobs you’ve been putting off whether its tackling the mountains of paperwork that have built up under your home office desk, sorting through the myriad of kitchen draws packed with a years supply of junk or going through your wardrobe with a ruthless keep or throw attitude this is what a good spring clean is all about. Out with the old?
