We are quite often asked to do a cleaning job for landlords who are about to re-let a property after the end of a tenancy. But in this particular case the landlord, a Mr Mitchell, wanted his rental property to be given a deep clean before he put it on the market.
When he called us, he asked us to carry out a End of Tenancy clean to his large 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom property in Darras Hall he told us that he wasn’t really a professional landlord. He’d inherited the property in question and had decided that renting it out was just more hassle than it was worth. He hadn’t realised how much work a landlord, especially a conscientious one, needed to put in.
The property had actually been empty for several months therefore wasn’t in a great condition. On top of that, builders had been in to do some minor repairs and alterations, and inevitably they’d also left a bit of a mess. Their work had included removing a couple of plasterboard partition walls and rewiring the property and as anyone who’s had builders in will know, that’s quite enough work to create a surprising amount of dust and mess in a house.
Mr Mitchell rightly believed that he had a better chance of selling quickly and at his asking price if the property was well-presented, and so he’d called us in. He’d heard about us from a friend who’d previously used us and had been happy to give a glowing recommendation. We often find that word-of-mouth is the best marketing!
We were happy to take this job on. The house was quite large with five bedrooms and two receptions, set in its own grounds. Mr Mitchell had hired a house clearance company to take out all the furniture, so the house was empty, although there were carpets and the usual white goods in the kitchen.
Starting at the top of the three-storey Victorian house, we began our deep clean. We wiped down walls and surfaces and got rid of more cobwebs than you could shake a feather duster at. After we finished cleaning all the walls on the top floor we then began cleaning all doors, door frames and woodwork through out the top floor. Once the bedrooms were complete we started to deep clean the bathrooms as they were very dusty due to work being carried out on top of the dirt the tenants had left it, we started again with the tiles and grouting and worked our way down to the floor and carried out the same routine on each floor. In this particular property we had our work cut out with inside the toilets as they were covered in mould and limescale but with a little patience and the correct products we had fully removed from all toilets. We had three of our experienced staff working on the job so that we would complete the clean in 1 day.
Mr Mitchell came round to inspect once we’d finished and he was more than pleased with our work. And so we notched up yet another satisfied client.
