Carlisle Domestic Home Clean Case Study
This week we were contacted by a couple who ran a youth hostel in Carlisle. They asked us whether we would be able to fully clean their youth hostel, including the insides of all of the windows, and each of the five dorm rooms. We agreed to do this and told them that we would be around at 11am on the agreed day.
When we arrived at the youth hostel our customers were there to lets us in and gave us a tour of the hostel so that we could see what work needed to be done. The five dorm rooms were quite large and contained, beds, bedside tables and wardrobes. There were also large bathrooms and shower rooms that needed to be cleaned, as well as communal areas such as the lounge, the canteen and a games room.
We decided to begin by cleaning all of the windows though, of which there were many. All of the windows were quite smeared and clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, but we soon managed to return them to their original condition. Once we were finished with the windows, we began to clean all of the five dorm rooms, which required a lot of vacuuming, mopping and dusting. We also wiped and polished all of the wooden furniture and beat the curtains in order to remove any dust and dirt. After finishing the dorm rooms, we moved onto the canteen.
Our customers told us that the kitchen didn’t need cleaning, so we focused our efforts on mopping the floors of the canteen, wiping down all of the tables and emptying the bins. The lounge was attached to the canteen, so we moved onto this next, vacuuming and professionally shampooing the carpets, which had quite a lot of stains on them, and also vacuuming the upholstery on the armchairs and the sofas.
Now all that we had left to do was clean the male and female bathrooms, the shower room and the games room. The games room was quite dirty, but after several rounds of vacuuming, dusting and polishing we managed to return it to a good state of cleanliness. The bathrooms were in quite a bad state, and a lot of the plugholes were blocked with hair and many of the tiles that lined the walls had to be thoroughly scrubbed in order to remove layers of soap scum and general dirt and grime.
We also disinfected all of the toilets, emptied all of the bins, mopped and scrubbed the floors and descaled the sinks, many of which had limescale building up in them. The bathrooms and shower rooms were the longest job of the day and took us over two hours to clean. Once we had finished though, our work for the day was done and we were very satisfied with what we had managed to achieve in just six hours.
